Class activity

1. Our activity was to split the class into 2 groups. The groups had to come up with a new flavor to add the V8 Splash’s product. Group 1 was assigned a boss and the boss delegated the work to his employees, while he gave no input. The group had to use the regular business ways and couldn’t collaborate with each other. Group 2 had no boss. Everyone was free to input their own ideas and discuss them amongst each other. We hoped that both groups would be able to still come up with fresh ideas, even though the first group was hindered in creativity.
2. I believe we were successful. Both groups came up with new, fresh ideas that could actually be implemented by the V8 company.
3. Yes it achieved our goals. Both groups were still able to create ideas, even though one group was stifled by the old ways.
4. We learned that open source is great to explore new ideas and new innovations, but as far as products are concerned the old managerial hierarchy structure is also useful. The two can go hand in hand if collaborated.
5. If we had to use this activity as a research tool, we would switch the groups then ask what style was better and why. We would also ask if they got better results, how did the the work ethic differ from being on their original team, or on the new team.
